apple will not increase the screen size of the upcoming fifth-generation iPhone to compete with the next generation of Android devices, an analyst claims.
The company is widely expected to launch the iPhone 5 in October, introducing a self-assembled with new features including a redesigned form, better camera and wireless charging.
However, there are also rumors that Apple will increase the size of the handset screen in response to a new smartphone running the latest version of the Android Gingerbread OS.
Many new Android phone has a screen size of about 4 inches, compared with only 3.5 inches for the iPhone 4, while some of the upcoming Android handset will boast up to 4.5-inch screen.
Despite the great success and great sales, upcoming launch of new iPhone will make Apple’s increasingly losing market share for mobile phones that run Google’s Android OS.
Android-supported device sales surpass their counterparts IOS during first quarter of 2011, accounting for 36% of the market, compared with 18.8% for Apple. In the second quarter of this year, the share of Android smartphone sales rose to 46%, while Apple is ranked second with 20%.
As a result, Apple is rumored to be preparing to increase the size of the iPhone 5 screen of the previously planned 3.5 inches to about 4 inches. A Wall Street analysts, leading confirms that all the indicators suggested for the launch of the iPhone 5 in October, but moved to play down speculation about an increase in screen size.
In a note to clients was reported by International Business Times, Pacific Crest Securities analyst Andy Hargreaves wrote: ” iPhone 5 component orders increased for FQ4 (September) and FQ1 (December); timing of orders continues to suggest an October launch.
“FQ4 orders for iPhone 5 increased ~700k; timing continues to suggest an October launch. iPhone 5 screen size likely to be same as iphone 4.”
The iPhone 4, launched in June last year, features “retina display” screen that gives a resolution of 960 × 640 pixels and offers a contrast ratio of four times higher than its predecessor, 3GS.
